Chez Scheme Version 7.9.4
Chez Scheme Version 7.9.4 is out! Version 7.9.4 a the latest and probably final prerelease of Version 8. It adds a number of new features to the earlier prereleases; see the release notes for details. As always, the Petite version of the system is available for use without fee. Download it now and try it out. The Scheme Widget Library (SWL) does not yet run under 7.9.4 and may not be available until Version 8 is released, but Petite Chez Scheme is still convenient to use, with its handy expression editor, in a shell window with a standalone text editor of your choice. If you do try Version 7.9.4, please let us know what you think. A draft Version 8 User's Guide, actually describing Version 7.9.4, is also available.
The Scheme Programming Language, 4th Edition
The fourth edition of The Scheme Programming Language, updated for R6RS Scheme, has been released. It is available for order direct from MIT Press and should be available in bookstores soon. The full text is also online, along with errata.
